Hello all,
I have a PowerMac 8600/300 running Mac OS 9.2.2 and I would like to know where I can download a FREE
photo editor to edit my pictures at. I searched and searched Google but as usual nothing.

Also
I have Printmonitor 7.1.2 on my Mac OS 9.2.2!! Now thats not something you hear everyday is it! The reason is because I had to copy it from my old laptop. Where can I download a newer one?

Thanks for any help!

Printmonitor 7.1.2f1 is part of a standard OS 9.1 installation. Printmonitor 7.1.4 replaced it in OS 9.2.1 and remained unchanged in OS 9.2.2. To get v. 7.1.4, you can extract it from the free downloadable OS 9.2.1 updater's Installer Tome using TomeViewer.

If you have a digital camera, it undoubtedly came with photo editing software. It may not be the best, but it was free, and the best won't be.

One or more of the six parts may have been damaged during the download process. This is fairly commonplace, unfortunately, especially with a dial-up internet connection. I've never used the multi-part downloads and don't know exactly how they work. In particular, I don't know whether it's possible to tell from the way they behave when you try to use them which part is damaged, so you can re-download just that one.

Perhaps someone who is familiar with the multi-part OS updaters will come along to help with that.

In the meantime, is PrintMonitor 7.1.2 misbehaving for you, or does it seem to work OK? If it ain't broke, don't bother fixing it!

Eww,
I have done this before when I upgrading to OS 9.2.2 and had a few problems but It was so long ago I dont remember if I downloaded the whole installer, used my old update disk,or downloaded each part individually! I am not having any problems with Printmonitor exept It looks so old I thought this was originally with the 7.6 package! The reason I wanted the update is because I deleted the original Printmonitor when I upgraded to OS 9.2.2 because I didnt think I would ever get a printer but I did! I also love having the most up to date software EVEN THOUGH I HAVE OS 9.2.2!!! Thats because its the highest compatible with my Mac. Does the update (PM 7.1.4) give any extra features? Thanks Eww,Don, and everyone else that had helped and still is helping and Happy holloween too!

I don't really think of PrintMonitor having "features" at all, and I don't know what difference there may be between v. 7.1.2 and 7.1.4. As I wrote above, 7.1.2 isn't much older than 7.1.4, so if you're not having trouble with it, you can probably just leave it alone — unless/until you can conveniently bum a copy of 7.1.4 from someone else.

I just purchased Photoshop Elements 2.0 for mac and windows for $28.00 on Amazon. It works great and is better than my old Photoshop 3.0. I don't think you can get a better photo editor for that price. All the features are either automatically or manually executed. The price has been reduced because the latest version is 3.0 which run on OS X. Version runs on OS 9. You should give it try.

MWWD,

Give up on Google and try every digi camera manufacturer website you can think of.
Kodak's EasyShare is available for System 7 / OS8 / OS9, called Kodak Photo Software for Mac OS9. It's very neat.

Then try Minolta, Olympus, Nikon, Canon, etc, ad nauseum.

I'm still not sure if you want a Photoshop-like photo editing package, which you asked for in your first post, or an iPhoto-like photo library organising package, which you asked for subsequently.

There was a package called iView Multimedia, whcih used to come with OS8 / OS9 installations. Have you tried that ?

Let us know what you find.

MWWD, also check this out.

b ThumbNailer
is an app that will take a folder of pictures .... shows them as little 150 x 100 pixel thumbnails, lets you click on one ... shows the selected picture in a bigger view .... lets you click on the main picture window to show the picture in a seperate window ... let's you show it full screen ... shrink it ... grow it ... make slide shows, play music for your slide shows (MP3's and AAC's) ... and lets you convert pictures into other file formats.

Get it at http://homepage.mac.com/mdewalt/index.html

It's freeware. Versions for OS 9.x, OS X & Win are available.

Cheers, Tom
