USB 2.0 PCI-card not working

Hi!

I have already a USB 1.0 (oder 1.1) PCI-card inside and OS 9.1 has no problem with it. Now I have installed a USB 2.0 PCI-card additionnaly but OS 9.1 cannot recognize it.

I thought, OS 9.1 will use the USB 2.0 PCI-card as a USB 1.1. AM I wrong ?

if not, then the card may have some problem, isn't ?

Tony: If you have a Mac, please identify it precisely in the System Info that is part of your Discussions Profile (click on Preferences in the sidebar at right to edit that info.)

Some Macs are more compatible with PCI>USB 2.0 adapters than others. When you tell us what Mac you have, it will be easier to advise you. Your Windoze box may be your primary computer, but the only one you'll get help with here is your Mac, so the Mac's info is what we need to see.

Hi,Tony. In many Powermac XXXX models, USB adapter cards that have separate controllers for each port (as most or all USB 2.0 cards do) won't work. Any USB 1.1 card that has a single controller for both/all its ports will usually work in those models. Such cards are getting hard to find new, but should be available very inexpensively used. I have a 4-port, single-controller USB 1.1 card in my 9500 clone running OS 8.6 and 9.1, and it has always worked well.

Belkin two-port USB 1.1 cards, unlike most other brands of such cards, have dual controllers, and have been reported not to work in PowerMac XXXX models much more often than other brands; thus Kevin's comments above.
