Printing to HP d145 from leopard

Hi
Desparately need help printer doesnt want to do anything I have reset all defaults on both Imac and printer to no avail.
Any help would be great!

imac, Mac OS X (10.5.1)

Please provide more detail. Are you able to add the printer? Does the problem occur when trying to print?

Hi
Yes I can add the printer and it is recognised as being present in the sys profile in both usb connections and printer option
driver version2.7.10 using HP officejetd145 foomatic/hpijs recomended
however image icon for printer looks completely different to what i had before
print jobs get as far as waitng for device

There is a Gutenprint driver included with Leopard for this printer. Have you tried deleting the printer and then re-adding it as a USB printer with the "HP OfficeJet D145 - Gutenprint v5.1.3" driver? It should be added automatically when plugged in, but you may have better luck with this driver.

Yes I have tried both of the suggested drivers but neither work and it seems to be trying to set my printer as a d135 not d145

I am successfully printing to my HP d145 from leopard after much frustration and useless support from HP. I stumbled across an article on the web that said to uninstall the HP software package using the HP uninstaller in the HP folder in the Applications folder. After doing that and removing and reinstalling the printer in the Preferences panel Print & Fax, only the Leopard gutenprint driver was operative and it now works for printing. Of course, my previously available 2 sided printing is not supported and I haven't tried faxing or scanning yet, but I do have a very expensive, but operating USB, not shareable, printer again.
