encode to hard drive

Is there any way to have iDVD encode content to the hard drive without actually burning it to a DVD disk. I'm storing all my home DVDs as VIDEO_TS folders on a network storage drive and I can play them back using DVD player. I current have to burn the move first to an actual DVD disk and then copy the files to the network storage. Is there a way that iDVD can save the VIDEO_TS folder directly to the hard drive without burning it to an actual DVD disk?
