getting my computer to recognize second ipod

My son recently got an ipod shuffle. How do you get the computer to recognize the second devise? My computer keeps trying to update my ipod's info. on his?

Dell, Windows 2000

hey!!! your running a dell with win. 2000, i'm amazed your pc can spell Ipod let alone sync to it!!!

have you tried creating two user accounts let your lad sync his shuffle in itunes though his only!!! might work worth a try!!!

are you sure you have the latest Itunes !!! if so each Ipod type is recognized so say a classic can't be re sync-ed with a shuffle ect!!!

You need to give each iPod a unique name - if they're both called iPod there will be a problem. Once they have separate names you should be able to independantly control what gets synced to each device.

Also, try changing the drive letter of one(or both) of your iPods. Keep them well apart because the iPod can be confused by any other storage devices assigned a similar drive letter even though they may not connected at the same time.
