Using SVN under OS X.5 Leopard Server

Hi there!

We run a Mac Pro with OS X Server Leopard 10.5.1 for collaboration services.
We also need to use SVN for other matters. As this service is not directly accessible from Server Admin, but is always running because it's used as a backend for Wikis and blogs, *is there any way to use it in parallel for other purposes as well*?

Thanks in advance!

Luc

I followed these instructions, as well as the other set linked in this thread.

When I restart Apache, it's not restarting. The log shows the following:

Cannot load /usr/libexec/apache2/mod davsvn.so into server: dlopen(/usr/libexec/apache2/mod davsvn.so, 10): Symbol not found:

Basically I can't get mod davsvn.so to load.

I've been trying to solve this for a while, but have no real solid leads. Does this ring a bell for anyone?

thanks
John

I also also could not get dav svnmodule to load. This is a fresh install of Leopard Server, and the first thing I did with the web settings was to check the box for dav svnmodule, and I get the following error in the log file:

httpd: Syntax error on line 154 of /private/etc/apache2/httpd.conf: Cannot load /usr/libexec/apache2/mod davsvn.so into server: dlopen(/usr/libexec/apache2/mod davsvn.so, 10): Symbol not found: dav_do_findliveprop\n Referenced from: /usr/libexec/apache2/mod davsvn.so\n Expected in: dynamic lookup\n

I'm trying to do the same thing as everyone else with the server in our lab, and I got the same error you did. I thought maybe it had something to do with my advisor creating a new /Library/WebServer/Documents folder (i thought maybe he hadn't set the permissions correctly), but I guess not since you're having the problem on a fresh install. I know this message isn't helpful, but I'm glad to see I'm not alone with this issue. Anyone try calling AppleCare about it?

Hi Nayan

I have followed your instructions and have subversion working with open directory authentication.

The issue I have seems to be with the manual addition of the Dav svn and SVNPath lines under the location directive in the apache conf file - the apple web services GUI keeps wanting to change Dav svn to Dav off which obviously then stops subversion access working.

Any tips on how to fix this?

Evan
