Making a disk image FROM osX FOR os9

Hi!

The CD drive of me G3 with os9 is dead. I will buy a new one but until that I need to find another way to install things.

I had the idea of making a disk image from my G4 (os 10.4.2), and share it on my G3 by a network.
The problem is the G3 don't recognize the disk image made with my G4. I tried to make a Master CD/DVD of the disk (.cdr), and also a read/write CD (.dmg).

I don't remember well what was the disk image extension on os9. Was it .img?

How can I use a disk image made on G4 on my G3 ?

Thanks for helping !

Jielle

eww...

You made me look, eww. 😉

Luckly I do have DC6.5b11 but failed to archive 6.4 till Don posted it. Anyway I found that DC defaults mostly to compressed so watch out for a preference setting. I also make mine R/W but trick is to know the sizes before hand or risk filling the image up.

In General...

I believe one may have to use a cross duty Installer Application to pull this off properly if compression / segmentation is a must. OR maybe uncompressed .zip may hold some promise.
