Can I Delete Quicktime qtch files?

Under Library, in Cache, in Quicktime folder,

I had some huge files and I need to make space on my computer.
My understanding is that these qtch files represent previously
viewed trailers of movies that were streamed and then saved?
But not regular movies that were downloaded?
Is that right?
I have no need for large files of temporarily viewed stuff,
can I delete all these huge MB files and not mess up everything?

These files read like 48585727942gnefjsaiu2qk32.qtch so I don't know
what it IS is.

Thanks - McGoose

The safest, simplest and hassle free method of getting more free space on an internal drive is buying an external drive and store your largest media folders (Movies, Pictures and Music) on it.
All of the iLife apps allow you to use an external drive to view, listen or store your huge Library folders.
Max size for the QuickTime cache is 4 GB's. Streamed media isn't cached so it isn't stored there. Just those files you view in a browser are saved in it.

"Also, I moved it all the way to the left and it only goes down to 100 MB and not zero. Is that bad?"

In QT Pro v7.3.0, the 100 MB is on the right of the scale. At least under the Tiger OS that is where it is.

Which QT versions are you using? Possibility under Panther 100 MB shows on the left side? Either way, you want to slide the slider to the lowest amount.

I've never used Panther. Hopefully, a Panther user can confirm.
