Moving photos from slideshow to album

While composing a slideshow I added photos from different albums and established a certain chronological order to the slides. Now, I am moving albums/folders to a backup harddrive, and I thought I should save the edited slideshow as its own album before I exported it to the harddrive. I tried selecting all the pictures of the slideshow and dragging them to a new album, but that did not work. Then I tried copying all the pics of the slideshow and pasting them into a new album, but that did not work either. Any ideas? Or maybe it isn't even necessary to create the album? Maybe saving the slideshow itself on the hard drive is enough backup? Thanks!

yes, thank you. I do understand that I could copy the entire library. My choice, however, was to copy individual albums because the library includes things I do not wish to back up. After I copy the albums, I plan to delete everything in the library. This will allow IPHOto to work more quickly, plus provide me confidence that my photos are safely on another drive.

Here's where I need your help. One of my slideshows contains photos that are from different albums. I spent several hours organizing the photos chronologically and cropping them correctly, etc. I know I can export it as a quicktime movie, but I wanted the individual pics saved into an album in the same order as in the slideshow. I know how to get pics from an album into a slideshow..... but I do not know how to save the individual pics from a slideshow into an album. Can you help? Thanks!!!

Thank you TD. The lesson for me and for others who may be interested is this:
When the end result you want is a slide show, be sure to bring all the photos together in an album, do the arranging and order and cropping in the album, and then transition to the slide show to add music, timing and special effects. If necessary to then add more photos or change the order, go back to the album, make the changes, and then save as a new slideshow. This can be frustrating, because it will mean setting the music, timing and special effects of the slideshow again --
Interesting...
But thanks, TD -- appreciate your time.
