Importing from Sony camcorder DCR-HC46

Has enyone been successful importing with this camcorder using Leopard and iMovie08 I can't get iMovie to recognize the camera at all. I turn on and place on the docking station and set it for USB mode and nothing happens. Am I doing something wrong?

might not be helpful but i found sony dont do drivers for there camcorders to work on mac through USB iether that or i not looking properly i had the same problem with my camcorder i went and bought a firewire cable no drivers needed no more problems

You are the second person that has been successful doing that. I guess a fire wire cable try wouldn't be that expensive. I'll give it a try this weekend. Thanks!
