ATT/Bellsouth DSL issues with iChat?

All right. My wife has had no success chatting with my parents on iChat in the past few months. Both parties have BellSouth/ATT dsl. We have success chatting with everybody else, and they have success chatting with everybody else. I'm leaning towards the ATT dsl. Any suggestions?

iMac, Mac OS X (10.5.1)

Issues such as this are often to do with the way NAT is done at either end and the two devices involved not "Playing Nicely"

Use UPnP where you can.

As you said DSL I am presuming you at least have a routing modem if not actually a modem and a separate router.

UPnP is an option in the set up pages of most devices although some older devices can be without it.
Also Apple Airport Base Stations do not have it as a matter of course.
