How to use firewire to VGA adaptor to hook up to TV Sony 32 inch 1995 XBR

I recently got the Firewire to Vga adaptor for my Macbook. I also got a VGA to RCA and svideo adapter. I was hoping that I could connect that adapter to the VGA and then hooking that up to TV to display desktop on the TV screen. I am kinda computer ******** and can't figure out how to do this. My setup is having my mac book connnected through the Firewire/Vga adaptor to another adaptor which converts VGA to RCA and S video (which my tv has both). I am curious to know what else I need to do to get this to work or can it work? I just get a blank screen on the TV and my computer won't recognize the display. ( i have messed around with resolutions but to no avail). Can anyone give me advice to whether or not what I am doing will even work and if it does how do I go about doing it.

Thanks

Macbook with duo core, Mac OS X (10.5.1)
