Volume adjust using keyboard?

Hi is there a way to adjust the volume in OS 9 with a keyboard shortcut?

(assuming of course I dont have the the designated volume key on my keyboard)

On Powebooks & OS9, you can go to the Keyboard Control Panel and switch the function keys to act how you wish, but iirc, modifier key plus F1-F4 was default.

No PB for years though here.

Hi, Silent One -

As far as I know there are no preconfigured keys in OS 9 for volume control, using a keyboard which does not have such as dedicated keys. That's not to say an individual program may not have such - it may, as part of its program-specific menu commands.

However, you should be able to write AppleScripts for those functions, then attach them to FKeys of your choosing via the Keyboard control panel.

You may be able to find usable pre-written scripts at sites like this -

You may also be able to use this item in the same way (I've never used it) -

I also found a folder full of mini-apps (probably camouflaged Applescripts) designed for just this purpose, hidden in a storage folder on one of my older my hard drives. You can download them from my iDisk via this link (direct download, about 48K) -

I have no idea if they will work.

I just tested the ones for the main volume using OS 9.1, and they work fine.
