appleshare server on pc

I have an appleshare server setup on an old mac OS9 and I need to be able to access the server from a PC. Howerever difficult it may be, I have heard that it is possible but I dont know how to go about doing it. My PCs have Windows XP on them.
Can anybody help me out or point me in the right direction?

Thanks.

How easy or difficult this might be depends on what version of AppleShare server is running on this Mac. Can you check, then report back to us here?

AppleShare IP server version 6 (and newer) include support for the SMB file sharing protocol used by Windows. Older AppleShare server versions only support Apple's own AFP file sharing protocol - and to access these old servers you need to install software on the PC that supports Appletalk and AFP (like the commercial application PCMacLAN).
