Installing Diablo II on Leopard w/OS X Native Installer...
...isn't working, darn it. Neither on my 2.8 GHz iMac nor my 2.2 GHz Macbook. Every time I try to install it, enter the serial number, and then follow the instructions to insert the Install CD, it immediately ejects the CD after mounting it for about 1 second and then repeats the message to insert the Install CD. I actually have two separate copies of the game, and both exhibit this behavior in Leopard, pretty much eliminating a faulty CD issue. I've installed these on the Bootcamp partitions with no issues, by the way, but I'd rather play the game from within Leopard. Has anyone successfully installed Diablo II using the OS X native installer patch/app?

I did a couple months ago and don't remember having a problem with it. I went to Blizzard's site and downloaded the installer and that's all it took. I know the game doesn't run in OpenGL, but it runs.
I don't know I can't seem to run diablo at all on my computer. I mein I install it right? But as soon as I open the program it does the usal opening stuff but when it comes to the menu I get a Bouncing Diablo 2 sign then when i press a button it will freeze. o.o; Im thinking the settings im using are wrong. Maybe the colour to high? or the Speed to fast? Anyone got ideas?
I have also had issues with the OS X Native Installer on a 2.2GHz MacBook with Leopard. The install starts, but either bails out on the first disk, or the second disk. I've no clue what the issue as, as most people seem to have no issues. My disks are very clean, so I don't think it's a media issue, and the disks installed fine on Tiger. In your case, it might be worth a try to get an ISO of the disks and work off of that, since they seem to
think the CD has an issue.
On my Intel 2.2 GHz OS X 10.4.8 it just doesn't wanna work... I installed it normally, no errors and applied the newest patch, but when I try to run it, it gives me "The application Diablo II quit enexpectedly" and gives me options Close, Report and Reopen.
Viloet,
I had the same problem. When you open Diablo and the options menu comes up, click on the "configure video" button, then change the monitor selection from OpenGL to software. It should run smoothly after this.
The diablo 2 installed just sits in the dock. I can't get this to install either. I have a pc/mac hyrbid disc. Does anyone know how to install the game on a power pc powerbook mac?

ok, since I apparently told my computer not to show me the options menu, before I realized that I would have a problem with the video. How to I reopen that menu so I can configure the video???
Sorry, I am brand new to a mac, and I have no idea what you just suggested. Please give me instructions for dummies.....I will probably be able to handle it then. I am finding it is significantly different that windows....better, but still very different. Thanks for your help and patience.
search in spotlight(the blue circle with the magnifying glass icon) type in diablo and look for a diablo preferences file to select for deletion. when you run diablo the next time choose the video options but dont check the box option to not show at start up. that way if need you can make additional changes to get it right.
Did anyone find a solution to this? When I open it, my D2 Native Installer just plays the sound it usually does, but it just sits in the dock once I open it and that's about the extent of it. Installer screen doesn't even open. Please help!
To bring up the option screen all you have to do is hold down the "option" key while the program loads.
You can run the game in OpenGL if you run the game in a window, I find this is by far the best way to play, it's not choppy at all and runs very smooth even with the highest video settings. For full screen mode it's best to run it with the software renderer but it still runs a little choppy.
It' taken me an average of 3 tries for the installer to work properly (I've installed on 5 Leopard systems), I find it's best to have the D2 Install CD mounted before you run the OS X native installer. Make sure you have the newest version of the installer from the Blizzard site. If the install fails, I recommend rebooting before trying again, and not deleting the files from the failed install but instead allowing the install to overwrite the previous files.
