quicktime install question

I wanted to move Quicktime from C: to our external hard drive, as we were short of space on C:.
Reinstalled itunes to G: no problem. But Quicktime went to C. So I deleted from C and reinstalled, directing the install to go to G:. But while itunes went to G, quicktime went to both C: and G:! and it won't let me send the quicktime folder on C over to G. When it starts to copy over, I get a message about QTT file (I think that was it). Also tried earlier to just install Quicktime, but it kept getting hung up.
Anyway, I'm at a loss. Please help, I know someone out there has the answer off by heart! BTW, running Windows XP Pro.
Thanks!
