Problem adding movies to iTunes library

When I try to add a video to the iTunes library by going to File > Add File To Library and selecting the Movie > Open, nothing happens!!

The formats I have tried are AVI, I also converted one of these files to MPEG-4 Movie format thinking it might add to the itunes library!
N.B. When I try to open the MPEG-4 Movie in Quicktime I get this message
'Error -2002: a bad public movie atom was found in the movie (Movie Name.mp4)

Windows XP

Do you intend to watch this on your iPod or do you just watch these videos on iTunes? If you have no intention of watching it on your iPod then download and install the VLC player.

But the error message you received implies the file was damaged somehow, possibly during the conversation. Try another video.

If you intend to watch this video on your iPod, then you should download a program called Videora which easily converts all video formats to ones that are compatible with your iPod.

Gotten this from this site, its a new update released on the 13th.

Release Notes:
As we mentioned in our last blog post, in order to workaround Apple’s "Error -2202: a bad public atom was found in the movie" bug, we have to ignore the source video’s framerate and force the converted video to a new framerate. Videora iPod Converter will now do this automatically through our new Automatic Framerate Generator feature. This feature can be turned on or off by editing your encoding profiles. Since we had to add this as an option to the profiles section, you cannot use or import your old profiles as they will not work.

We’ve made the program more resilient to MediaInfo errors so you should now be able to convert your videos even if MediaInfo fails to find out any video details. By doing this, we also fixed AviSynth script support which we accidentally broke in 2.04. Finally, we have included newer versions of FFmpeg and MediaInfo.

How many times do you need to ask this question?

Quicktime or Quicktime Pro (which iTunes uses) don't convert "muxed" ( muxed means multiplexed where the audio and video are stored on the same track) video files properly. It only plays the video and not the audio.

See: iPod plays video but not audio.

You need a 3rd party converter to convert the file with both audio and video.

See this for help: Guide to converting video for iPod (Mac/Windows).
