Microtek flatbed scanner

Hi I am new to mac world from PC. Got an older (3yrs) Microtek scanmaker scanner but will not work with Leopard or Windows Vista. I thought with a Mac, it was just plug-n-play, but doesn't seem to be the case here. Tech support (phone) is just not what I expected from apple, very disappointed I made this purchase.
Any solutions out there? other than going out to buy a compatible scanner that is! 🙂 thnx

If you go to http://support.microtek.com/ you can download drivers for most models of the Microtek scanner line. (This page is the USA 'English' version.Other countries would go to http://www.microtek.com and select the appropriate area.)

Which model scanner do you have? I have a ScanMaker 9800XL at work and have it running in OS 10.4 with the ScanWizard Pro 7.522 software. Dunno if it will work in Leopard yet the website only says it works with up to 10.4. I also believe that I had trouble running it on the Intel platform so I have it running on a G4.

Oops! I didn't see the 10.5.1 in your profile. I am running an older Microtek Scanmaker 4700 in OS 10.4.11 on an Intel machine. I don't know if Microtek has compiled driver for 10.5 yet.

Thnx a lot for your reply. I have a scanmaker 4900. Works fine on windows xp, but not on vista or osx
