connection to NAS only allows some users access to folders and files

Purchased a Promise SmartStor NS4300N - installed 4 500gb Seagate drives and created a RAID5 array with 1.38 Tb is available storage.

On the drive is a public folder (created by default) and then a folder that I created called family.

I set up 2 users to make a total of 3 users; admin, mogwai and family - each one has been setup with read and write access for each of the folders.

All other users that I create, do not have access or permissions to read and write to
the RAID.

I have verified that the sharing setup in the SmartStor is identical for all 3 users, however the only user that can connect to read and write to the NAS is the mogwai login. Neither the admin nor the family users can read or write to the drives.

The folders show up, but they have a red exclamation mark and I'm unable to open them up.

When I "get info" on the drives I see that under sharing and permissions everyone has "No Access" and i'm unable to change this in this "get info" window.

Sort of at wits end here...does anyone have any thoughts on what I may be doing incorrectly.

thanks.
