powerpoint options greyed out

I'm new to PowerPoint. I can't use the option WordArt Gallery. I got the WordArt menu sitting there, but when I try to go on the option:" WordArt Gallery" in the toolbar it won't let me. It's greyed out, and so are almost all the other options except:"Free Rotate", WordArt Shape", and "Formate AutoShape".

Plz Help Me Out !!!!!
