Safari 3 doesn't respect .htaccess MIME types...bug? or workaround?

I have a lot of high resolution files that I host on my server, and in the past have used .htaccess files to force the users browser to download any filetypes that I specify (ie high res .PNG, .MOV, .PDF, .IMG etc)

after installing Safari 3 and browsing my file server: http://file.meyersproduction.com I've noticed that safari isn't respecting the Htaccess files, and is opening the HD videos in the browser window.

is this a bug? or is there an alternate code that needs to be used to force safari to respect the MIME types?

I'm currently configuring my server like such:

AddType application/octet-stream .mov .png .jpg .img .pdf .zip
AddType video/quicktime .m4v
