Safari Intranet Access Problems

Hi All,

I'm working in a further education college utilizing a number of Mac Pros (mac OSx 10.5.1 ) . The problem I'm having is accessing the intranet on the college network using safari ( 3.0.4 ). Is this a known safari problem and does anyone know of any fix as it works fine with firefox although I would prefer to use safari. Basically, the login box comes up, I fill in my username and password and i get the message -
"the name or password entered was incorrect.." even though i know its correct.

Thanks a million.

Powerbook G4 15", Mac OS X (10.4.3), N/A

Hi Barry,

Thats what I thought as well but I can access the intranet using firefox on my ibook. The college network is Pc based and basically the macs are not controlled by the college system administrators. I am the administrator for the macs as they only take up one classroom and they are not networked. The thing is, when I connect the mac to the internet port/connection it works fine but if I try and access the intranet to login to my college account, I cant although I can login using firefox. This would lead me to believe that the problem lies with Safari - any help whatsoever would be much appreciated and if it is a mac setting other than safari , I would really appreciate your help.

Check to see if popups are blocked in Safari and if so unblock them and see if that makes a difference. Some authentication systems rely on popups even when nothing is displayed and will fail if popups are disabled.

If that doesn't help, then we'll probably need to know the authentication system being used at your college before anyone can be of much help.
