Sep 27, 2005 12:47 PM in response to Neil Hunkins1by iFelix,]I have a bunch of .avi files on my ibook, but i do not have any program to read or convert them to, say, mpeg format. i am wondering if any programs exist and where i could find them. i would prefer to convert them, but i'll settle for at least being able to have them read.
Avi is purely a container for a video file and is not really a format in its own right.
If you have the right codec then the file should play in Quicktime.
One often used codec is DivX
