Serial number/applecare?? HELP!!!!

Serial number/applecare?? HELP!!!!

I recently sold my old PowerBook on ebay. The buyer is claiming the the serial number on the bottom corresponds to a different system. The serial number that he claims is wrong does not sound right. How can I prove this? I had applecare on it, can they pull up the old serial number??

MacBook Pro 17", Mac OS X (10.5.1)

If the user clicks on the blue apple, and about this mac, and clicks on version, build and then serial number, does that differ from the number in the battery bay? Have the user give you all the numbers in the battery bay, to ensure he's not looking at another number.

You can to go to https://selfsolve.apple.com/GetWarranty.do to find out what the Applecare status is on it, as well as confirm what type of machine is covered.
