Logitech R-10 Speakers dont work

I just purchased a mac mini running Leopard and when I plug my Logitech R-10 speakers into the audio in/out port I do not get any sound. The sound just plays through the mac. I went to system preferences -> sound and the only option is internal speakers. Its grayed out so i can not change it. Does any one have any idea why this could be happening and how I can get my Logitech speakers to work.

Thanks,
Greg

Welcome to the discussion board!

If system preferences does not detect your speakers than that means they're not compatible. By chance are your speakers powered by an AC adapter? Try plugging in something else into the headphones jack like iPod earphones just to make sure the port is functioning properly. If the port doesn't work chances are you'll need it repaired. Apple has a great repair and replacement policy
