I downloaded and installed the latest security update on my MacBook last night. Before I could restart, though, the battery gave out and it shut down. Now the LED on the magsafe connector blinks, alternating green and orange. Is this a problem with the MacBook related to the unexpected shutdown? Is it a possible battery problem? Is it a possible problem with the charger?
theres been alot of topics about this question. I, myself posted one...but mine started happening after i have downloaded the battery update.i havent notice it blinking since then...but maybe apple should get working on that.
The LED is staying solid green now. The battery indicator on the menu bar says it's charged. When I unplug the charger, the indicator says it's good for 23 minutes.
Uh... I JUST had the same problem. It went flashing - green/orange, etc, after this update I just did today. It's funny because it didn't happen immediately after I restarted (after I installed the updates), but almost 8 hours later.
Sunday, it no longer recognized the battery, so I called AppleCare. The rep said that since I did not have the extended care, I would have to buy a new battery. Someone on the Mac|Life forum pointed me to a page on Apple's website showing that the batteries are covered for up to two years from date of purchase. Monday, I went to the Apple Store to ask about the coverage and to buy a battery if I was not covered. The young lady I spoke with there looked at the page on the site and agreed that I could be covered. I made an appointment with the Genius Bar, and I'm going back Friday.
Since I installed 1.3, I've been having a hard time with my charging. I've had the same problem as you (blinking lights, etc).
I checked my Magsafe connector this morning, turns out part of it is burnt. The wire barely holds. I had to call Apple and explain to them what happened. Since I wasn't under warranty, I had to fight for what I wanted. Why should I have to pay extra if their release messes up my product? If it was my fault, fine.
They are sending me a replacement AC adapter... who knows when it'll be here.
ive just started having this problem now. i did the security update yesterday (11 feb 08) and left my macbook off till this morning, which is when it started. i downloaded the update posted above but its still blinking.
stats say - health: 41%; cycles: 112; charge: 100%
if that helps at all.
anyone got any suggestions? ill probably go to my local store tomorrow but just wanted to check if anything here first.
