Yes, Safari does not work with Hotmail, keep using Firefox. The real problem is you get into a loop with Hotmail if it does not sign out correctly with Safari. I think Microsoft recommends that you go to MSN.com then access your hotmail through the link and then go back to the MSN page and sign out.
This helps prevent the loop problem. The Hotmail team is suppose to fix this problem but have been saying that for months now!

Hello, I got a call from a client this morning with the same problem, it took a while but here is the work around. From a Windows computer running IE log into the hotmail account, it should work just fine. On the left Navigation choose "classic hotmail" then be sure to log out. Then on the Mac open Safari, from the Safari menu choose clear cache, then Safari menu again, choose preferences - security- show cookies, either delete all or if you want delete all the live. windows. hotmail. msn. and any other windows cookies. That should do it close the window, and use your favorite link to hotmail.com and it should work. The devil in the details is that the new version of hotmail, that is automatically pushed out to the Windows Live community is not compatible with Safari. Enjoy!

I used to be able to log into hotmail through safari, because Microsoft/windows live mail doesn't support the safari web browser it actually automatically changes the layout to the classic one. I know this because 1) a message used to come up when i logged in on safari telling me that 2) when viewing hotmail in safari it was classic view then when viewing it on IE7 it was the new and default layout - the better one.

So by changing it on IE only makes it so that when you log in on Safari its still... the classic view but then now when you log in on IE you also have classic view whereas before it was only classic on safari. so my point is that by changing the settings doesn't do anything because the problem soon comes back anyway... hence there not being any point in changing the viewing preferences.

I have had this same problem since Safari was updated to version 3.1, but never before. Trying to log into hotmail through msn.com or via Microsoft Messenger on Mac OS 10.5 results in an 'endless loop' between several sites in the location bar. This continues until I am kicked to an MSN error screen. Hotmail works fine on Firefox running on the same system.
