Where are Mac manufactured?

I'm tired of PC's, hard drives failing, wireless cards failing, freezing because of poor drivers. I noticed all this stuff is made in China. Where are Macs made?

Hi,

Hold on to your hat! The answer is China!

Just about all computers are made there. The difference is Mac's hardware is matched to the software.

The large majority of Mac laptops are probably made in China now. Don't know about the desktop machines. My 2001-2 iBook G3 600 MHz was made in Taiwan (with a Fujitsu HD I think). It was probably made by Quanta, which is the largest maker of notebook computers in the world - usually for other brands. I'm sure they have most of their manufacturing done in China by now.

I noticed that the overall fit and finish starting with my (made in China) iBook G4 1.42 wasn't as nice, but the machine has been rock-solid otherwise. The bearings on my 2001-2 iBook G3 600 hard drive started making screeching sounds a few years ago, and I'm not going through the trouble of replacing the drive in an outdated machine.

Most notebook computers are made in East Asia these days. My wife's Dell laptop was assembled in Malaysia. Some Lenovo/IBM, Sony, and Fujitsu laptops are still made in Japan. There's still computer production in Taiwan, Indonesia, and Singapore.
