Sharing music/videos over Airport - "stuttering" - can I set buffers?
I have a Mac Mini serving as the family "sharing station", where all our music, videos, etc. are stored in a central place.
The Mac Mini shares its drive over Airport. I access it via my MBP and Airport.
File transfers are good, connection quality is good. However, when I play back music or videos that are on the remote disk, I get "stuttering" - it plays well for anywhere from 10-60 seconds, then it stops for a second or two, then it continues.
I'm fairly sure the transfer speed is sufficient. I can watch videos (with the above effect), so it should definitely be more than enough for a bit of music. If I copy files, transfer speed is way beyond what playback would need (copying a music file of several minutes completes in seconds).
So what I figure is that I need to increase the buffer size somewhere, so that playback doesn't stop if for whatever reasons there are less packets arriving just this second.
But, try as I might, I can't find a place to do that. Neither in sharing, nor in iTunes.
Anyone got a solution for me?
