where is the @ on a swiss/german keyboard?

Hello everyone. Who can tell me where I can get the @ on a swiss/german QUERTZ keyboard. I googled it and it says it is combined with the number key '2' but I have tried all combinations of alt. shift etc and can't get an @ anywhere. This is serious as I can't type an email address without it. Idiot proof replies please. Thanks

I don't know about that keyboard, but you may be able to use the Character Palette to do this.

Go to System Preferences>International>Input Menu. Check the box that says "Character Palette" and also the box that says "Show input menu in menu bar" at the bottom.

This will install a little flag in your menu bar. If you need a special symbol like "@" or "§" or "¶", you click on the little flag and then on the icon that says "Show Character Palette". You highlight whatever symbol you need and click on "insert" and it will place that symbol wherever you need it. The "@" will be in the punctuation section.

At least this is how it is with my American English keyboard--I hope it will be the same for yours. If you are doing documents, you may need to used Textedit instead of Appleworks, as the Character Palette seems to not work in Tiger--at least that has been my experience.

If this doesn't work, please post back.

Good luck!
