Converting from 128 bit rate to 320 bit rate

I have been importing my CDs at 128 bit rate. I recently dsicovered the sound quality is better with 320 bit rate. If I convert my 128 bit rate songs to 320 bit rate, will this increase the sound quality? Or will I have to import the original CDs again with my setting at 320 bit rate?

Converting the tracks from 128 to 320 will not make them sound any better, it will just make them take up more space. You can't put back information that was lost when the tracks were originally ripped at 128. You'll need to re-rip from your CDs.

Thanks, that's what I was afraid of. Luckily, I have most of my music on actual purchased CDs.
