I keep getting the 'Disk is too slow or System Overload' message when I try to play back the demo files supplied with Logic Express 8. Anyone know why?

Hi,

The hard drive you are playing back the demo from is too slow.

You do have a dedicated hard drive for audio? If no, you shoucl consider getting one, before your system drive craps out.

And, if you are attempting to play these back straight from the DVD, lord help you...that is not what the DVD was meant for. Please copy the sessions to a hard drive instead.

Cheers

I have a MBP with a 5400 speed drive, and I can play all of the demos, even unfreezing the tracks. If you get the message only once at first playback, that's a known issue with Logic and there are tons of threads concerning that. Just consider it an annoyance and and learn to live with it until there is a fix. If you're getting them continuously, there is another problem.

Try trashing your preferences, that has worked for some:

If that doesn't work try searching for more workarounds. A lot of people here have explored this issue.

Good Luck!
