change name/extension of computer

Hello all,

I hope if anyone can tell me how to change the profile-name you see in the locations area of your MAC HD. When I installed the computer i entered an Account Name (my full name). What seems to happened is that the computers used this name for my location profile folder name without any spaces etc. Is is possible to change this? I can not find the settings. Thanks in advance.

Could you please explain what you mean by the "profile name" and the "locations area"? I'm not sure what you mean by these descriptions and I cannot seem to find on my computer what you may be referring to.

If this is in your Network pane of System Preferences, you can edit it from the drop down menu >> edit locations, use the gear icon to choose "Rename location".

When I open my macintosh HD......in the window on the left side you see machines, sharing, locations and search (I have the dutch version so maybe i translated some of the labels incorrect). In the location tab I see the folder Desktop, Programs, documents and my user folder. I want to change the name of my user folder because this is too long and created by OS X. In this user folder there a folders with pictures, movies etc.

I hope this is a better description of my issue.
