New hard drive in Power Mac G5 shows 465GB of 500GB

I just installed a Samsung 500GB, 16MB, 3GB/sec, SATA2 hard drive. My Mac only recognizes 465GB of the drive.

This is the 2nd drive I have tried, thinking there was a problem with the drive.

G5 PowerfulMac, Mac OS X (10.4.10), Dual 1.8GHz, 1024MB RAM, 160GB HD,

Hello. I think its just a thing that manufacturers do, they tend to round numbers off to the next higher (never lower) better sounding amount. I have recently installed a 500GB Seagate and it shows as 465GB, maybe formatting uses some space also?. Cheers.
