Drivers for HP photosmart 7660 supposed to be on Leopard disc, but not?

I have an HP Photosmart 7660 attached to a wireless PC (WinXP Home Sp2). When I purchased my imac g5 with Tiger, there was no problem connecting wirelessly from the mac to the printer connected to the PC. After installing Leopard, I could not see the printer through the wireless Mac. The HP website and Apple both state that the driver set for the 7660 is on the Leopard disc. However, it cannot be found in the printer list. The Apple tech could not find the 7660 driver either. In talking with HP, they state that the driver set was given to Apple and should be on the disc. Reinstalling the HP printer set from the Leopard disc did not change what was in the list. There is no 7660 driver. There are no other drivers in the list that match the 7660 driver nor are the available on HP website. The 7760 driver version is 4.21.

Has anyone had this problem? Does anyone know where I might get this driver?

Did you click on the "more printers" button when you attempted to add your printer and didn't see it in the list?

Yes, there were only 4 which included for the HP, "HP IP Printing".
It is curious that a google search brought up Apple info that states that this printer is supported on the Leopard disc, but I cannot find it.

When I clicked on the "System Preferences/Print & Fax/+ button and the "More printers" button in the window, I also saw and selected "HP IP Printing". However, after about 5-10 seconds my printer, an HP 7210 All-in-One, came up on the printer list with an IP address. Didn't yours show up? Was your printer on your LAN?

I did what you did choosing "More Printers" in the toolbar, but when I chose "HP IP Printing", nothing came up. I think the problem is that I am not on the network. However, regardless of what I choose, I can't seem to get it to work.

One problem is when I choose "Windows" in the Toolbar, everything is greyed out. If I could get in here, maybe I might have some success.

Since I can't get the HP7660 driver, I was told by HP that the hp photosmart 8200 uses the same driver, so I chose this from the list. So, this is what I did. The only choices open to me were to choose "IP" or "Advanced". Neither seemed to work.

Choosing "Advanced" in the Toolbar, I, then, chose
Type: Windows
Device: Another Device
URL: smb://(the IP address of the computer to which the printer is attached)
Name: hp7660
Location: same IP address of the computer to which the printer is attached
Print Using: selected the "hp photosmart 8200 series"

The strange thing is that when I try to print a page, the messages that appear are: "Opening Printing Connection" and underneath this line,
"Printing page 1, 16%....", then it closes and the green light on the chosen printer goes to red and "Paused, default". But, nothing occurs at the printer, no pages print, no error messages.

So, since there is no error message, I assume that the "hp photosmart 8200 series" driver would work and the problem is in the path that is set up for the printer. When I had Tiger, no problem, but apparently Leopard is very unforgiving and I do not know what changes have to made in the path. When you choose Type: "Windows", it automatically chooses the URL as "SMB://" for the path (which then needs the IP address added to it).

Any suggestions?

You have to be on the your LAN with your printer connected and turned-on for this to work.

You are correct. I finally put in the correct URL:smb://..... path which allowed me to print. This was much more complicated than with Tiger.
