iTunes installation

I had a iPod Classic for Christmas. It says i need to upgrade iTunes to 7.4 or more. When i download the software from the website everything is fine. I go into my documents and click install whcih works fine until right athe the end of installation. The status bar is full but will nothing happens. It has not frozen because i can close and open the window.

Please help
