Apple Mobile Device Is Not Started?

Try putting the phone in recovery mode and see if this helps. I do not remember how to do it but there are tutorials on the net for this.

If this does not work, call Apple, and or AT&T. They will help you for sure.

Does it say +Apple Mobile Device Is Not Started+ or +Apple Mobile Device SUPPORT Is Not Started+? They have quite different meanings. *Apple Mobile Device Service* is a program that runs on your computer that provides the communication path between the computer and the iPhone.

In the Control Panel choose Administrative Tools, then Services. Find Apple Mobile Device Support (should be near the top, as the list is alphabetical). See if it says "started". If it does not double click it and click "Start". If it starts try to sync the iPhone.

If it fails to start go to the Control Panel, Administrative Tools, and choose Event Viewer. Check the System log for the error that should have been recorded. If there are no errors check the Application log.

If you can't start it the most likely cause of a failure to start is your Antivirus or Internet Security application blocking it. Check the logs for your security program.

If you take it to the Genius Bar at an Apple store they can activate it for you.

I am on a Mac but maybe you can reinstall iTunes. Make sure your anti-virus is disabled. Also disconnect from the Internet if you disable your Anti-V...... Then try the reconnect thing. DId you call Apple or AT&T for help?

Last resort.

Uninstall iTunes. Reboot your computer. Reinstall iTunes. Reboot your computer. Try connecting your phone.

Verify that it is still running, and put the iPhone in the cradle. Let us know what happens. And make sure it is still running with the phone in the cradle.

At some point you should try to find out why it doesn't start by itself, but for now you have a workaround.
