Quicktime failed to initialize error -2096

Just did upgrade to 7.4... and I got this message.

Try this one,

Right-click on the QuickTimePlayer application (located in C:\Program Files\QuickTime) and choose Properties from the shortcut menu.
In the Properties window, click on the Compatibility tab
Deselect the checkbox labeled "Run this program in compatibility mode for."
Click Apply.
Close the Properties window.
It did NOT help for me though!! Next I´ll try to download the old version of itunes.

Same problem. I uninstalled iTunes and Quicktime, but I was unable to run the iTunes 7.4.3/Quicktime 7.3.1 installers from Apple, but I happened to have a iTunes 7.1 installer on my computer, which seems to work. Pretty long step backwards, but I never really needed the new features (not watching TV Shows or Movies on my computer, just want to download pod casts).

I am also having the same problem after going to QT7.4. Last night I uninstalled Quicktime and then reinstalled. It did not fix the problem. Appreciate any help.

I tried to change the compatibility issue, but my QuickTime Program File has no compatibility tab. Any suggestions?

Erase your QuickTime application and every related file from your computer.
Install the stand alone Quicktime version 7.2 - the one without iTunes.
