1 gb memory module to Power Mac G4

I received a 1gb 184 pin DDR 333MHz PC-2700 module as a gift. First of all, is this the right kind for my Power Mac G4? According to the manual on Apple's website, it's got to be 167 MHz PC 2700 DIMMs. I'm kind of confused with the terminology here. DDR SDRAM and DDR are 2 different things?
I have another question. Can a 1 GB module be used for my model? Or should it be a 256 MB or a 516 MB module? If you could clear up my foggy head, I would appreciate it.

Hi, Assuming your model is one of the 3 linked to below (and I believe they are the only 3 1.2 dual powermac g4 models out there), then your model has 4 ram slots that support "184-pin PC2700 (333 MHz) DDR SDRAM". The 4 slots can only support 256mb or 512mb modules, for a maximum total of 2GB.
DDR and DDR sdram is the same thing.

So no your 1GB single stick would not work - if it's possible to return it you could just have it exchanged for two like 512mb modules. If it is not possible to return it you could sell it on ebay to help fund getting replacement modules This would be a good source for memory I would recommend if you have to buy your own replacements:

Hi-

The MDD can support up to 2gb of total memory. 1gb modules can be used, as long as the total doesn't exceed 2gb.

Thank you for your help. I exchanged the 1gb module with two 512 mb modules. So as far as we know nothing can go wrong. I currently have 768 mb and 2 slots left. I'll be good. I'm ready to install Leopard now. Thanks again.
