locked motion tutorial project files on dvd

Hi
Just got the motion graphics and effects for final cut studio 2 training book which includes all the media files for the tutorials, this is the third book i have in the training series and the procedure is to drag the files over from the dvd to your hard drive to use them which is usually fine.

Problem - All the lesson files on this latest dvd appear locked both on the dvd and once copied to the hd and cant be opened the other media files (.movs and pdf's ) are fine.

under get info / sharing and permissions- it says 'You can only read' then below next to my name it says - privilege 'read and write'.

in terminal it reads -rw-r--r--@

im logged in as admin

ive tried chmod to change permissions but cant seem to do it.

bear in mind this is the only dvd in the series i have this problem with

the files are definitely copied to my hd in my user directory

so how do i get these files unlocked and why r they appearing locked?
