MIDI floor pedal as Control Surface in Logic?

I have a Boss GT-3 guitar multi-effects floor pedal that I would like to try and control some parameters in Logic with. It works fine with MainStage but when I try to add it as a Control Surface in Logic, nothing happens when I click the "Add" button (the GT-3 is not picked up in the scan). I assume this is because it is not a typical "control surface" that Logic is intended to be used with, but simply a MIDI controller with footswitches and an expression pedal. Is there another way to make it work? (like it does so well in MainStage)

I also have an M-Audio Oxygen 8 that I would presume may work with Logic, but haven't tried it yet, and maybe with the GT-3 connected thru it, I could control the Oxygen 8 and in turn control Logic, though I see that the manual discourages daisy-chaining MIDI devices. Thoughts?
