iPod Nano pauses unexpectedly

I just bought a new iPod Nano for my wife.
We have an iLive docking station for it as well.
I downloaded music and loaded it in some playlists, and while it is docked and playing it suddenly stops to proudly announce that the iPod is fully charged. Wife has to tell it to play again.
Is this a defect or a setting that can be adjusted so it doesn't stop playing?
We don't want it to pause.

I just started using my 3rd gen. nano today. It is fully charged, but while I am out and about, playing songs, it will suddenly go on "sleep mode" with no warning. (Unless I'm touching it.) I checked the sleep function, and it's set to "off". And it doesn't seem to matter if the hold button is on or off. It happens after about 2 minutes of play time. Suddenly the music stops and the screen goes dark. When I touch the wheel it starts up again. Does anyone know if this is a "settings" problem or if my new ipod is just defective?

This is happening to me as well. I have an iPod compatible surround sound system (Pioneer) and the iH8 Alarm Clock with iPod dock. The sound will just shut off and the iPod will show the Charged screen. This is really aggravating. Especially on the Alarm clock since it renders any iPod-alarm settings unreliable.

Sounds like the same problem as Rick D's minus the verbal announcement. Has anyone contacted the support folks about this? That will be my next stop.

Thanks,
N.S.

Mine does the same thing and it's driving me nuts. I have an iHome system. I previously had a 2nd generation iPod that I used with the iHome with no problems up until Jan. of this yr. Then I got the new nano for xmas and it keeps shutting off. The only thing that works is I have to take out the nano and put it back in. If I just hit play again it will stop after another 2 min.

I almost wonder if I should take it back and get another one??

Mine has been doing the same thing starting today. I was listening to some music and the nano (3rd gen) was just sitting on a table and it just stopped playing. I toggled the hold switch and it turned back on. I tried to play it without the hold switch on and it did the same thing. Yet when I was listening and walking at the same time it didn't pause. What's going on?

This is a nano problem. My wife and daughter both have new 3rd Gen. nano's. I just bought the new Boston ( Accoustics) Horizon Duo-i. I have been befuddled, baffled, bamboozled, and basically p-o’d!

The nano charges and plays music. Once charged it displays a full battery symbol and stops playing music. If you start to play it again, it takes a minute or two before it reaches the full charge again and turns off and tells me the battery is charged. I KNOW IT IS CHAGRED! JUST PLAY THE MUSIC!

I have read in customer support that the large battery icon shows while charging **"while in sleep mode ." This is the display that I am getting while it is playing and stops. It appears that even though it is playing music, the nano thinks it is asleep. This fix is how to trick the nano into realizing that it is in fact, not asleep! Does anyone know how to do that?

I am posting this on the apple discussion board hoping someone can find a fix. If not, I am afraid I might have to try a Zune from Satan himself, Bill Gates.

Thanks, JBlum

I think I'm joining a growing list of discontents with the Nano's. My brand new 3rd Gen 8G Nano plugs into my Pioneer Amp, plays for less than 2 seconds and then nothing. The Nano screen says "You are safe to disconnect now"... GREAT! Would rather hear the music!!

I am sure the music stops as soon as the battery starts charging, or thinks it's charging... Is it a design defect? Did this ever happen to 2nd Gen? Can anyone from Apple shed light on this conundrum or is it the unspoken problem? I rang Apple support and had the opportunity to speak to a nice Indian gent who kindly told me that "if I can hear music through my ear phones then the iPod is fine and the error is with the Pioneer. Try ringing them"..!!! Helpful! NOT!

Considering I brought this iPod because my Pioneer came with a complimentary iPod fitting... Have I just wasted hundreds of $?

Help?! Anyone?!

New and soon to be over-it iPod user.
