Help, with my Panasonic AG-DVX100A

Hello,

I have 2 computers, one is a brand new iMac and the other is a Macbook Pro.
I also have 2 camcorders, an older JVC GR-DVL320 and a Panasonic AG-DVX100A.

When I connect the JVC via firewire to import the DV, iMovie 08 on both computers recognizes and imports the data correctly.

Here's the problem. I CAN connect my Panasonic to my Macbook Pro and import the data perfectly, but iMovie 08 on my brand new iMac doesn't recognize the same Panasonic camcorder.

No matter what I do, I cannot import from my Panasonic to my iMac.

Should I reinstall the whole system? Have I done something wrong? Please help!

hello i´m from spain so my english culd be no so good, i´m sorry about that.....i have no solution for your problem..the thing is that i have exactly the same camera panasonic and my imac does not reconice the camera, it´s the same case as you can see...i,m trying to capture the records but i can´t get open the capture window that it´s suposed to get opened automatically...i want to ask you if you did get the solution for our problrems, i got the firewire cable ieee 4-6 pines..thaks for helping

In case you missed my post. Had the same problem...going crazy. Found out that you can't connect the camera directly to the firewire port on your computer. You have to connect your camera to an external hard drive and then connect the external hard drive to the back of your iMac. Wierd but my blood pressure is back to normal. Have Panasonic DVX 100.

Great answer, though not so clever if you don't happen to have an external drive!

C'mon Apple, get your act together and sort out, in this instance, why folks can't connect their camera directly to the firewire port of the iMac!
