**Solved** "Can't connect to server" problem

My DNS doesn't have any numbers beside it, which I thought was the problem in the first place.

I have the same problem. I have not tried what many of you have said as I have no idea about what half the stuff you are talking about.

I live in Australia. Have a wireless connection. The network comes up but when i try to look through Itunes it says 'Can't connect to server". Whereabouts do you find your DSN and all that (there are no numbers for the DSN etc... only network & IP address). I mean is it in the data that we first use when we hook up our wirless internet or can you find it on your computer (cos you see we've lost all the packaging and written info & passwords we first got).

Muc help needed!

I don't mean to ne uncharitable but 'spaz' is appropriate !!

On your Touch:-

open 'settings', select 'wifi', when it finds and displays a network name (SSID) select the 'arrow' to the right of the name and it will display the addressing info. Delete the first set of numbers against DNS (they will probably start with 10.)

just btw: if you don't have any DNS at all on your ipod there is definitly something wrong with your router/wireless settings, since your router should provide the DNS-IPs to any device that connects!

Hi eveyone again.

Iv'e hopefully found all the data I need for someone to help me. When I go to the Wi-Fi settings on the touch only IP and Subnet Mask details come up (which come up as 169.254.211.37 and 255.255.0.0 respectfully. All the rest are blank.

After looking on my computer through the ipconfig/all data on my computer I got the following:

I have a Siemens SpeedStream 6520 Wireless ADSL Gateway Router and have found the Wi-Fi WEP key Code, Wi-Fi SID (which is SpeedStream8993 although this comes up on the ipod as well as the internet sign on the ipod), Wi-Fi pin and our usename and password which I presume is for the internet (even though we never use it. i think its more our email internet account for bigpond - our server)

I hope this is all the information needed in order for someone to help. As you can tell I'm not very tech savy. Also if smeone is kind enough to reply and help could you tell me whether to have the settings on DHCP (which I've been doing), BootP or Static as well as whether the HTTP Proxy needs to be on 'Off', "Manual' or 'Auto' (all of which I have tried, entering the required data).
