I just got my iPod Classic 80GB for Christmas. Everything was fine until I started to download the songs from my iTunes. I have close to 7,000 songs on it, so it was going to take a while for it to download onto my iPod.

To make a long story short, while it was downloading my computer went to sleep. Now my iPod won't reset, won't turn off and just seems to be in a constant loop where it turns onto the intial "Apple screen" then turns off and then turns on again. Almost as if it's trying to reset itself. Everytime it turns off, it makes a clicking noise and when I listen to the back, it sounds as if the hard drive is turning on and then turning off again.

Thoughts?

I'm not sure if it is still connected to the computer. If so, unplug it. Reset it by holding the center button and the menu button simultaneously for about 10 seconds. That should reset it. After that connect to your computer and start the sync again. Be sure to have the computer plugged in, and make sure to change the go to sleep settings.

I've tried trying to reset it (flipping the hold switch and then holding down the menu and center buttons). All it does is turn off for a few seconds and then turn back on to the Apple logo screen and continues having the same problem.

I'm not sure if I mentioned this or not, but my computer went to sleep while the iPod was syncing up. So that may have something to do with it.

I'm just hoping I don't have to return it.
