Ricoh GR Digital 2?

Is there anyway to get the Ricoh GR Digital 2 camera's RAW files to work in Aperture? It works in preview and quick look but I just get the red unsupported image in Aperture.

The only sure way I can think of is to buy a majority stake in Apple and then order them to put more resources on Camera RAW support.

Another other option is to wait and see if Apple decides to do it. Since they won't tell you by publishing some kind of list, this is an exercise in faith. Based on their track record, if it's not supported now and is not one of the more popular cameras on the market, then you are probably not going to get a RAW converter.

You might want to start evaluating alternatives.

Sorry about the slow response. This is my dad's camera and he loves it! This is his first digital and he has been using film for a very long time in our darkroom.

Now that Aperture 2 is out, is there any chance this works in it?

There are notes in the Aperture 2 documentation that state that Aperture has improved support for DNG files for RAW files that Aperture itself doesn't support.

Try converting the RAW files to Adobe DNG files (go get Adobe's free DNG converter), with "convert to linear" turned OFF, and see if it works.

Then tell us how it goes 🙂

This was one of several reasons that I dumped aperture.

Has been fixed, I can confirm, in version 2. No need even to convert via abode DNG converter, Aperture now recognizes my native RAW GRD II files.

Ricoh's GR-D and GX cameras output DNG raw files natively, so it doesn't even require Adobe DNG converter. Bonus! 😀

OK. Aperture 2.0 now handles DNG. Great for the future. But what about all the images I managed to import to Aperture 1.5 via the plist hack. After my library was converted to 2.0, those GX100 images no longer show up. Is there another hack I'll have carry out? Please help. Thank you.

But what about iPhoto? i have done that raw.list hack and renamed panasonic d-lux2 file into "RICOH GR DIGITAL 2" but still get an "unreadable file" message and iPhoto won't import the files.

Anyone?

I suspect you updated to OSX 1.5.2 and your raw.plist has been over written by the updated version. Check the raw.plist to see if you still have the entry for the GX100. If it's gone you'll need to re-apply it.

I'm not sure if the selectable raw decode engine version 1.0, 1.1, 2.0DNG, 2.0 selectable in the raw settings brick will have an effect on your files after you've hacked the plist again.. I'd guess you'll need to try it out and see.

Hi Everyone

I'm trying to locate my raw.plist file, but it doesn't appear to be there?!? I'm checking under the following pathway-
System/Library/Frameworks/ApplicationServices.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/Im ageIO.framework/Versions/A/Resources/Raw.plist

.. but when I get to Resources folder, it just isn't there?! Anyone have any idea?
