hi,
some of my purchased music is now showing that it is a locked MP4, it will not play on my PC or on my ipod, not all songs are like this... how can i fix it?
When you purchase from the iTunes store, you have a choice of protected AAC format (,m4p) files, or purchased AAC format (iTunes Plus) files which have no protection. All purchases must be authorized to play on your computer, so they will subsequently sync to your iPod. Is your computer authorized to play these purchases?
hi, thank you, yes, i have un-authorized and then re-authorized the computer, i also went into my settings importing is on ACC encoder right now, but i never changed this, at least i did not know that i did and the other songs play fine?
help
Your import settings have nothing to do with what format the store downloads, these settings only affect your own CD's that you rip. I'm almost positive that none of the import settings would cause you to be importing in a protected format. Could you right click on a couple of these "locked files", then do "get info", & post back with EXACTLY what the file extension is on these songs, & what their source was (purchases, your own CD's)?
kind: protected AAC audio file
Size: Stream
Bit rate: 128kbps
sample rate: 44,100 khz
date modified: 12/08/07 3:29
play count: 0
Last played: not availiable
download from itunes on 12/08/07
i have purchased songs after that and they work?
thanks again
sorry, had to put my daughter to bed last night. i'm not getting an error, it just won't play, you dbl click and nothing, you load on the ipod and nothing, i opened it thru my computer to see the file said, MP4, locked. i checked others and they said MP3?
Sorry, I've been at work all day. I posted for a little extra help with this one as I seemed to be somewhat stumped, too. These are the suggestions from Nathan C. who helps out in the iTunes forums from time to time.
"The icon for a purchased song has a lock on it. Could that be what he is seeing?
Or is he right clicking on it, and choosing properties, and it says locked there?
If he goes to properties, what is the size of the file?"
Please post back with the answers to Nathan's questions.
