Apogee Ensemble or Symphony or Rosetta?

I'm a Pro Tools LE user considering making the switch to Logic Pro 8. If I do, I understand Apogee is the best for hardware interface.

Given that, I'm getting confised by all of the different products from Ensemble to Symphony to Rosetta.

I would love 8 XLR imputs with a high-quality preamp in each, and then a few line inputs as well. If it's not reasonable for 8 preamp ins I'll take 4.

Also, how do these products ideally connect to a MacBook Pro?... via FireWire or USB or that CardSlot thingmy?

Thanks!
Ron

Of the 3 you mentioned Rosetta would be my choice. Although your not going to get any preamps with that it will be the best conversion. If you want pres with good conversion the Metric Halo units are nice and comparable to the Apogee ensemble. One plus for the ensemble though is the collaboration with Apple. I haven't used these but have use the Metric Halo and they have good pres and conversion and are more then reasonable.

Hi there,

Apple have linked up with Apogee so there is a lot of publicity for the Apogee rage. I think the balance of opinions is that the Fireface 800 is still considered the one to beat, however. Do check it out.

I'm about to re-equip the studios at my university and it's between these manufacturers, all other things being equal.

The Ensemble is firewire so it will work well with your laptop.
Symphony will need a "Mobile Express Card" to use with your lap top.
The symphony is used normally with a desk top and needs a pci card.
They also have a 2 channel Firewire called the "duet" that is getting
great reviews at $495 and with the same ad/da converters that Ensemble has.
Very cool...... addition to a macbook pro.
This is also the direction I am going "just gotta save a little more"
if you know what I mean.

Apple Certified.. could have never said it better recook349,

Don't 4 one second believe the Hype!

However everything that Apogee has made with C77 Clock-Work is untouchable which includes Rosetta 800 AD/Da16 and Big-Ben,

Symphony-Card has taken Apogee Hardware to provide AES Technology on the Symphony-card a step further in integration in relation to Latency, Multiple Connection among Apogee Hardware, and superb intergration with Apple Software and Hardware.

Ensemble on the other hand is like there weakest product,

since the abundant of Mini Me i think its call on the 26 of June this year.

Ensemble isn't fit for what they make it to be which sure sounds like the Mini whatever it was meant to be called,

but for the Design they sure comes first.

If you can afford Symphony-Card and Rosetta go for it, its great.

Fireface 800 eats all three, trouble free Rock-Solid, Movie quality it will give you or Orchestra style of composition.

I have used all three and more, interface so i know what a good interface is suppose to sound like,

Or the way you can tell if your Interface is second to None.
