Synching My Ipod Classic with a New Imac with ITunes

I have an IPod Classic that has music on it. I want to transfer/synch the music to a brand new Imac that I recently purchased that has ITunes on it that is completely empty because the computer is brand new. My old computer died so I'm not able to make the back up files that are necessary to transfer my old music to my new computer. Apparently, there seems to be no way with Apple software to simply transfer my old music directly from my IPod Classic to the ITunes on my new Imac. When I plug in my Ipod, the Apple Software does want to synch with the Ipod but what it's telling me is that it will erase EVERYTHING that is on my IPOD (all of my music) and synch it with my new ITunes (the new ITunes has no music!!)!

Questions: Is there any way to simply copy from my Ipod to my new ITunes? Again, my "old computer" is absolutely DEAD. So this computer is out of the question......

Question: I did see some software that claims it will do exactly what I'm asking....ie copy from my IPod to my ITunes. It's from Imtoo.com

Thanks for your assistance. If anyone has any ways of doing this, please send me detailed step by step instructions as I'm not a "power user" on this stuff. Thanks again!
