G5 with ADC video port question

My G5 has a DVI and an ADC port. It seems i need an ADC to DVI adapter connected to a DVI to VGA adapter to hook up a second monitor. I assume this will work.

Is this correct? seems like a lot of adapters.

G5, Mac OS X (10.4.11)

An ADC to DVI adapter followed by a DVI to VGA adapter won't work because adapters don't pass the analog video signals used for VGA. You need an ADC to VGA adapter. They are becoming scarce and expensive.

If you only need one VGA display, use a DVI to VGA adapter. You can use a cheaper ADC to DVI adapter for a second, DVI, display.

If you have one DVI and one VGA display, the cheap way is to use an ADC to DVI adapter to connect the DVI display to the ADC port, and a DVI to VGA adapter to connect the VGA display to the DVI port. The expensive way is to connect the DVI display to the DVI port and use an ADC to VGA adapter to connect the VGA display to the ADC port.

If you have two VGA displays, you need a DVI to VGA adapter to connect one display to the DVI port, and an ADC to VGA adapter to connect the second display to the ADC port. There is no cheap way to use two VGA displays.
